Campaigns

Welsh Refugee Council campaigns to protect the rights of asylum seekers and refugees.

We participate directly in key working groups with decision makers at regional, Wales and UK levels to advocate for our clients and influence policy making. As well as high profile campaigning, we develop positive alternative policy proposals and actively influence government decision making on refugee and asylum issues.

Because we work directly with clients, we can inform policy makers about the reality of life as an asylum seeker or refugee in Wales. We sit on many Welsh Assembly Government working groups and have regular meetings with AMs.

We also work closely with partner organisations throughout the UK and Europe on campaigns to influence policy and improve the lives of refugees and asylum seekers. We are part of the Inter-Agency Partnership (IAP) of five refugee agencies, alongside Refugee Council, Scottish Refugee Council, Refugee Action and Migrant Helpline.
