Refugee Week Wales 2011 Wrexham, will take place at Eagles Meadow Wrexham on June 18th, 2011 at 12.00 pm – 4.00 pm . The events will include:
- A 40+ Drum Band performance
- Thai Dancers
- Chinese Lion Dance
- Burmese Dance Presentation
- Jamaican DJ performance
- BAWSO Dance Group

THE UMBRELLA PARADE – CARDIFF/NEWPORT
The Umbrella Parade is a celebratory event of 60 years of protection under the Refugee Convention of 1951 and marks the closing event of Refugee Week Wales 2011. It will take place on 26th June, 2011 from 11:00 – 4 pm as part of a European-wide event coordinated by ECRE (European Council for Refugees and Exiles) conveying a united position on the rights of refugees across the UK .
The umbrellas symbolise 60 years of shelter for those in need of international protection.
Come walk with us from the Millennium Centre to Sophia Gardens with your specially decorated umbrellas or t-shirt on the theme “Celebrating 60 years of contributions”. Bring your family or friends and enjoy:
- Farsi performances by WRC’s very own talent Parvin
- Duo Flex Caribbean Steel Pan
- Kurdish Dance Group
- Gael Drummers – African Drumming
- Supernatural Band - Cardiff’s Local Soul Music Band
- Information Stalls
- Children Play Activities
- Food Stalls
There will be a prize for the best decorated umbrella. A suggested donation over £2.00 to the hardship fund will be greatly appreciated to join in the walk.
