Medical Foundation Barn Dance
On Saturday 5th March the South East Wales Support Group for the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture are holding a Barn Dance. It is to raise money for the vital services that the Medical Foundation provide. Tickets cost £5 or £3 for children and concessions. It will be in All Saints Church Hall, Victoria Square, Penarth from 7.30pm – 11pm. There will be a bar and a raffle.
The Barn Dance features ’Amrysain’ with Stuart Montgomery as the caller.

Refugee Rhythms fundraising event
For the third year running STAR presents its annual event, Refugee Rhythms. This event on Wednesday 23rd February is a highlight of STAR’s calender and is a celebration of all things global featuring bands, food from the Welsh Refugee Council’s recipe book, craft and second hand clothes stalls, a raffle, and more.
All profits from this night will go towards the Welsh Refugee Council’s Hardship Fund for destitute asylum seekers.
When? Wednesday 23rd February: 7pm-1am.
Where? CF10, Cardiff Students’ Union, Park Place, CF10 3QN
How much? Tickets are £3.50 advance - you can buy them at Cardiff Students’ Union on Park Place or email us to organise collection. Alternatively, buy your ticket on the door for £4.
Acts include:
RSVP - ’the UK’s No.1 Danceadelic Bhangra’ band; their infectious energy makes it impossible not to dance along with them!
Three Pairs Of Shoes - a local five piece folk band who sing traditional folk songs with indie leanings.
The Zimbabwe Group - a Swansea based group originally from Zimbabwe who play traditional African folk music.
Cardiff Reggae Society will end the night with a great selection of tunes.
The food from the WRC’s recipe book cooked by the people behind the recipes, will include dishes from Zimbabwe, the Congo, Iraq, Georgia and Algeria. The recipe books will also be available to buy.
