Welsh Minister Jane Hutt says Wales is a vibrant nation because of diversity
Jane Hutt, Minister for Finance and Leader of the House with responsibility for Equality Matters attended the Umbrella Parade 2012, held at the Temple of Peace on June 16th, 2012 as part of Refugee Week Wales 2012. The purpose of the Minister’s visit was to help launch Refugee Week Wales and officially launch the 2012 update of the Welsh Government’s Refugee Inclusion Strategy Action Plan.
The Welsh Government published the Refugee Inclusion Strategy Action Plan in July 2011 and has further developed the plan with other organisations such as Welsh Refugee Council, Wales Migration Partnership, Displaced People in Action, UK Border Agency and Supporting Others through Voluntary Action.
The Minister welcomed approximately 150 people to the opening and expressed her appreciation to be in attendance. She added, “Modern day Wales is a society built on diverse and multi-cultural communities with people from a whole host of different backgrounds with unique characteristics and experiences. I strongly believe that this is what makes Wales such a vibrant nation.”

The Welsh Refugee Council welcomes the support of the Welsh Government for Refugee Week Wales and it’s continued commitment to the inclusion in of refugees and asylum seekers in Wales.
